OZNA SCADA
About
OZNA SCADA is a comprehensive system for the oil & gas industry: (1) a Dispatching System for remote monitoring of field facilities (visualization, status tracking, indicators, charts, tables, reports); (2) an Editor (a unique feature with no direct analogues) — a Figma-like toolkit to create and configure tables, charts, mnemonic diagrams, macros, and automated calculations. Available as web and desktop. Combines AlphaSCADA and MasterSCADA functionality while surpassing them in design, usability, and architecture.
Challenges & Goals
No initial design assets (no sketches, prototypes, concepts); weak market benchmarks; need to set an architectural approach and introduce design thinking; build a design system and core screens for a large-scale solution; hire and lead a design team.
My contribution
Full product design cycle from scratch; design system, guidelines, UX architecture; user scenarios; hired and managed a team of 5 (tasks, reviews, feedback); tech lead for key implementation decisions; collaboration with product owner and experts; oversight of development, QA, UX testing, metrics.
Process
Research & analysis → Sketches & wireframes → Prototyping → UI design → Development handoff → QA & testing → Product support.
Results
Delivered a fully developed, patented product that set a new industry standard; launched and adopted by multiple companies; 100+ screens and a mobile app for one-time login codes; grew from individual contributor to design team leader.
Closing note
This project became the largest and most complex in my career.
